As soon as you take up employment in Germany, you are medically insured. A medical insurance fee is automatically deducted from your monthly salary.

Pension insurance is also deducted from your salary and, when retirement age is reached, a respective pension is paid out in accordance with the amount contributed.

Under certain circumstance, foreign citizens residing outside of Germany may have the pension contributions paid out directly.

Child benefit amounting to around 200 Euros per child each month may also be claimed, as long as child benefit is not simultaneously claimed in another country.

Work performed at nighttime hours or on Sundays and public holidays is rewarded with a bonus ranging from 25% to 100% percent, depending on the respective time and public holiday. Tax concessions are granted for such working hours.

A regular working day in Germany is usually 8 hours, but in the catering industry the working hours are often a little longer, especially during peak periods.

Overtime is paid monthly or at the end of the season.

An employee accumulates 2 to 2.5 days of holiday per each full month worked. The accumulated days of holiday are also remunerated in full at the end of the season.

Room and board:
Depending on wage negotiation and employee, a flat rate ranging from 0 Euro to 250,- Euros is usually charged.
